WWF India Established ‘Environment Education Hub’ in Govt. High School Barkheda Nathu, Bhopal

WWF India, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh State Office established an Environment Education Hub in Government High School Barkheda Nathu, Bhopal on 15th December 2021. The initiative was taken within ‘Ek Prithvi’ programme of WWF India embedding the approach of environment education into the schools’ education system by empowering teachers with resources and teaching methodologies that enable them to effectively impart environmental awareness among students. Since the launch of ‘Ek Prithvi’ in 2016, the programme is empowering more than 1,30,000 students in 200 government schools across 11 Indian states in partnership with respective state education departments. Government High School Barkheda Nathu, Bhopal, is among one of the model schools selected under the program in Madhya Pradesh.

Colonel Navin Sharma (WWF India, New Delhi) inaugurated the hub in presence of school Principal, Mrs. Rachna Shrivastava, 12 teachers, 100+ students and other WWF state members including Mrs. Sangita Saxena (State Director, WWF India), Mr. Ajay Mishra, Mr. Markandey Singh and Mr. Shashank Dubey. During the inauguration, Mrs. Sangita Saxena and Col. Navin Sharma highlighted the need for inculcating environment education into academics and explained how the environment education resources will help students and teachers to adopt environmentally sustainable lifestyle and decision making.
